Recipe: Mexican Sesame Seed Cookies

Summary: A Great Snack!


  • 1 cup lard (no substitute), at room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • Sesame seeds


  1. Cream lard with sugar.
  2. Sift flour with baking soda and salt.
  3. Beat egg into sugar and lard mixture; add dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in almond extract.
  5. Form into 1-inch balls.
  6. Put on cookie sheets and flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, dipping glass in flour to prevent sticking.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  8. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 Degrees F.
  9. Makes 4 Dozen
